<p><strong>This is an amazing development &#8211; the developers from PyGoWave Dev Team couldn&#8217;t wait until Google releases their reference server implementation, so they built their own!</strong></p>
<p>
In the article <a href="http://wavety.com/google-wave-invitation/">How to get an invitation to Google Wave?</a> I wrote in this context: <em>There is still a very long way to go and it is also hard to say if these guys will be willing to open their server to other people.</em>
</p>
<p>
<strong>PyGo Wave Server brings two good news:</strong></p>
<p>1) The server is here<br />
2) It is open for everybody</p>
<p>So, <strong>you don&#8217;t need to wait for Google Wave invitation! Go to Pygo Wave server and get your account now!</strong> And there is more &#8211; <a href="http://code.google.com/p/pygowave-server/wiki/PyGoWaveServerInstallation" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/code.google.com/p/pygowave-server/wiki/PyGoWaveServerInstallation?referer=');">grab the code</a> and <strong>run your own Wave server</strong>!
</p>
</div>
<p><span id="more-661"></span></p>
<h3>The stage of PyGo Wave Server</h3>
<p>The server is in the alpha-0.2 version today. So, there is a way to go &#8211; there is no client at this moment, you can&#8217;t add robots etc. It means that a regular user who has seen the <a href="http://wavety.com/video/">Google Wave Video</a>, will not be satisfied now. But I am sure that any developer will be eager to test the PyGo Wave Server and even test his own gadgets there.</p>
<h3>Go to PyGo Wave Server</h3>
<p>You can find <a href="http://code.google.com/p/pygowave-server/" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/code.google.com/p/pygowave-server/?referer=');">the PyGo Wave Server home page</a> here. Be sure to check <a href="http://code.google.com/p/pygowave-server/wiki/ArchitecturalThoughts" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/code.google.com/p/pygowave-server/wiki/ArchitecturalThoughts?referer=');">author&#8217;s thoughts about architecture</a> before you jump in.</p>
<p>Also don&#8217;t miss <a href="http://code.google.com/p/pygowave-server/wiki/Roadmap" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/code.google.com/p/pygowave-server/wiki/Roadmap?referer=');">their roadmap</a> and <a href="http://pygowave.p2k-network.org/blog/" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/pygowave.p2k-network.org/blog/?referer=');">official blog</a></p>

<p><a href="http://wavety.com/do-you-want-google-wave-invitation/"><font size=3><font color=red><strong>Here is the way how to get a Google Invitation &raquo;</strong></font></font></a></p>
<h3>How it works</h3>
<p>This text has been written on June 12 and a lot of things changed since then.</p>
<p><strong>First of all</strong> &#8211; don&#8217;t spam any forum or Twitter with the messages like this: <strong><em>I&#8217;d love to try Google Wave. Could you please send me an invite?</em></strong></p>
<p><strong>Why?</strong><br />
Because there is no way how you can get it. Users will be alowed to the system in 3 steps:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Step 1 &#8211; The Google I/O attendees.</strong> This step is over and they should be in.</li>
<li><strong>Step 2 &#8211; The developers who are interested in Google Wave</strong>. THE ONLY WAY, how they can ask for the access to the Sandbox is <a href="https://services.google.com/fb/forms/wavesignupfordev/" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/services.google.com/fb/forms/wavesignupfordev/?referer=');">this form</a>. The big question is &#8211; how fast they will be allowed in? Check the next chapter for the answer.</li>
<li><strong>Step 3 &#8211; Anybody else</strong> should use <a href="https://services.google.com/fb/forms/wavesignup/" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/services.google.com/fb/forms/wavesignup/?referer=');">this form</a> and wait for several months.</li>
</ul>
<h3>The Bad News for Developers</h3>
<p>Many developers filled the form described in our Step 2 and now they ask: How long?</p>
<p>Stephanie (who is a member of Google Wave Team) wrote <a href="http://twitter.com/twephanie/status/2020262368" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/twitter.com/twephanie/status/2020262368?referer=');">this tweet</a>:</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter frame size-full wp-image-14" src="http://wavety.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/twephanie.gif" alt="" /></p>
<p>The words <strong><em>weeks out till ramp past io</em></strong> are the core of the bad news &#8211; the Google I/O attendees are in, <strong>the rest of developers have to wait for several weeks</strong>. The members of the Google Wave team repeated the same message <a href="http://groups.google.com/group/google-wave-api" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/groups.google.com/group/google-wave-api?referer=');">here</a>.</p>
<h3>Is there another way?</h3>
<p>Yes, there is. But it is not sure if it will be a faster one or not.</p>
<p>The Google Wave is built as open system and there is <a href="http://www.waveprotocol.org/" onclick="pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/www.waveprotocol.org/?referer=');">the Google Wave Federation Protocol</a>. It means <strong>&#8220;&#8230;anyone can build a wave server and interoperate, much like anyone can run their own SMTP server&#8230;&#8221;</strong>.</p>
<p>We are in touch with the developers who are working hard to start their own Wave servers.</p>
<p>There is still a very long way to go and it is also hard to say if these guys will be willing to open their server to other people.</p>
<p><strong>Anyway, this possibility is here, we will watch any development in this area and we will let you know immediately!</strong></p>
<p><strong>Updated on 2009, June 23rd</strong>: The guys were fast and you can try <a href="http://wavety.com/pygo-wave-server/">PyGoWave Server</a>!</p>
<p><strong>Updated on 2009, July 17th</strong>: <a href="http://wavety.com/sandbox-requests/">Google Wave team activates the sandbox requests!</a></p>
<p><strong>Updated on 2009, October 15th</strong>:<br />
